Beware Little Old Ladies Bearing Cake!
Mar. 1st, 2005 06:05 pmSunday my neighbor called and invited me to come over and have a piece of cake. I thought how sweet and went. The next day she brought a piece by. I am sooooo naive! I thought she was just being nice.
I had just signed on today when there was a knock at the door. It was my neighbor and her friend. (we are talking 65+ and 83) The older woman was carrying a parcel...silly me...I thought it to be more cake! It wasn't. They told me of a meeting that the local cooperative was having. I thought, 'How nice. They are including me in a community function.' My naivate knows NO bounds. They asked me to send out letters to all of the members of the cooperative (local and out of state) and 'make them pretty dear'. Of course I said yes. They practically shoved the parcel into my hands and were on the way out saying, 'we really have to rush'and they were gone. That should have given me a clue.
Do you know that the list of names was 13 pages long!!! If I were a secretary then sure...but I was about to read slash! The letters finished off two of my color catridges, but finally I finished. They brought envelopes so I could address them and get them into the mail. They were not self seal, so I had to lick that grotesque glue. ICK!!! Then to add insult to injury, they did not give my any stamps! I called to inquire about it...imagine my surprise when they told me 'oh did we forget. well you don't mind using yours do you dear. of course you don't. good bye hon.' Conned by a little old woman with blue hair! How pathetic is that?
On another note, I want to thank keiliss for her very thorough reference list of slash writer's basics. She is the best beta ever! I finally caught up with the fics I missed on the boards. I had so much fun reading what I missed...you hit a cliffie but np, the update is just a page away!
