Homeless and After my Heart
Oct. 25th, 2010 02:37 pmI've been feeding the neighbor's cat for the past two weeks and Friday a stray dog came to the steps looking for food. She was skin and bones so of course I fed her. In fact, she had a bowl and a half of cat food before leaving. The next day she was back for more. When I arrived Sunday, it was to find that she had moved her litter of eight puppies to my neighbor's garage. They are a few days old and seem to be healthy but their mom is giving all she is to keep them alive. I rushed out and bought food, vitamins and milk for her. She seems happy and content in her new home. (The owners of that home come back Wednesday and I don't know how they will react. She may get to move to my house which is fine.)
I know who used to own the mother dog. The woman moved and did not take her dog with her. How people can just abandon a pet rather than taking a few moments to contact a shelter is beyond me. She is a sweet dog. With a little TLC, she will make a very loving companion.
