Nov. 8th, 2010 11:12 amFor those of you following the plight of the dog that I found abandoned by her owner, here is the latest. The woman that abandoned the dog (Connie) learned that there is a litter of puppies. Yesterday she sent a message through a mutual acquaintance that once the puppies are weaned she will take them to her home and sell them. My neighbor, bless her heart, commented "Like hell you will. Those puppies aren't going anywhere near her."
We now wait for her reaction. Since my niece is a lawyer, I've posed the question of the legal status of all this, just in case the woman tries to cause a problem. Connie does not want the mother dog back. She just wants the puppies and only for the purpose of making a few dollars from their sale. Since they were born after the abandonment, I don't think she has a legal claim. The puppies need to be adopted by loving homes rather than sold to the highest bidder.
