The Neighbor and the Law...A Little Rant

As many of my friends know, Mom lives on a cattle ranch. She is alone save for her little dog. *sigh* A couple of years ago, a woman rented a house that sits on a few acres of land bordering Mom's south pasture. In all that time, Mom has only met her once and does not know her name at all. A man lives with her now and nobody knows his name either. They are trying to be invisible and have apparently been pretty successful.

Well, there is a new wrinkle in their story. Law enforcement spoke with Mom's neighbors and told them to caution all their neighbors. They said that the man has an extensive record of battery and robbery. The couple are being watched. Obviously something is going on. Still, I can't talk Mom into locking the gate to her property at night. She can be SOOOO stubborn! Maybe she will at least take the keys out of her car and pickups. Unfortunately I'd bet money that they are sitting on the dash right now, right where they always are. The only things she locks are Dad's gun cabinet and the front door. I told her grandson the policeman. Maybe he can talk to her in a way that will penetrate.
