My sister called yesterday to tell me that she may become a mom soon.  Her husband’s daughter was arrested for meth use…again.   CPS took her 3 month old child and placed her temporarily with the mother of the child’s father.  (The child’s father was arrested as well.)   A year ago, the same thing happened, but with a different baby and father.

She was released and has six weeks to clean up before being tested for evidence of meth use.   She says that she is not worried.  She has pee stored in the freezer.  (EWWW!)   In her mind, that eliminates any need to refrain from meth use.  Hair follicle and blood testing isn’t going to be affected by frozen urine.  (Once again…EWWW!!!)   Nobody is mentioning this, as we are all hoping that the system works for a change.

The woman who has been caring for the child is single and working full time.  She has been taking the baby to work (she is a hairdresser), but that can’t continue indefinitely. My sister and her husband were asked for their info, and will be checked out by CPS in order to determine if the child can live with them.

My sister’s children are on their own now, but it looks like her granddaughter is going to move in soon.  Her husband has said that they will adopt if at all possible.  He doesn’t want his daughter to ever get this child back, and it seems that she doesn’t care.  She certainly doesn’t care to see her first child.  It is so unfair that someone like that can bring life into the world and then treat it with complete disregard.  At any rate, it is thought that she may be pregnant once again.

It really would be nice if the legal system worked and she was locked up at least long enough to clean up.  Hasn’t happened yet, and she has been using since her junior year in high school.  It would also be nice if something happened to prevent her from conceiving again.  That obviously hasn’t happened either.   The family prays that something gives because this situation is truly horrible.
