A friend's mom visited from Denmark a few years ago, and anxious to see 'The Yellow Rose of Texas.' I'm certain that the look on my face said 'huh?'. I told her that the phrase is from a song that refers to a woman that legend says aided in the Texas Revolution by seducing the general named Santa Anna. Well...she said that I was mistaken. The yellow rose of Texas is a flower. LOL, we drove around till she grew excited and indicated that we should stop. The flowers from Prickly Pear cactus are what she was calling the Yellow Rose of Texas. Here are a few photos that I took and posted on FB for her benefit. Here are cactus flowers or yellow roses of Texas, whatever you prefer to call them.
