A Child Gets Justice

A few weeks ago, I posted about a relative that had been brutally raped.  The law enforcement officers did not prosecute her case, saying that since they were on a date and had drinks, they couldn’t get a conviction.  The man is walking the streets, free to rape again. 

Now, another member of the family has been assaulted.  She is 16.  (The police have assigned her the alias Daisy since she is a minor.  That is what I’ll call her.)   Daisy and her sister went to a neighbor’s for a sleep over.  The youngest girl was 9 and Daisy was the oldest.  They had gone on sleepovers at the house several times as they are friends of the girls living there. 

The police were told that the parents sponsoring the sleepover took up a collection of the girl’s money and used it to by them beer.  Daisy felt nauseous from what she drank, so went to bed earlier than the others.  She was put in a room to herself while the others were all crowded into two other bedrooms. 

At 2:00 am, Daisy woke to find her friend’s step father on top of her, naked.  He was trying to untie the shorts she wore to bed.  He never got her shorts off, but there was touching…and he tried to force oral sex.  He wound up ejaculating on her face.

In this instance, law enforcement officers have been wonderful.   They want to do everything right because that monster can’t be allowed to walk free.  It is now suspected that he has been abusing his 9 year old step daughter. They didn’t lock the mother up at the same time as the father because of the children in that home.  However, the detectives say that she will be prosecuted as well.  They want Child Protective Services to take the children out of the house first. 

The first rape that I posted about was brutal.  She is psychologically scarred for life and law enforcement has done nothing about it.  On the other hand, Daisy’s case has been handled with compassion and determination.  I wish all victims were treated so well.
