The only access to the Internet here is via dial up connection. DSL is still on the other side of the county but slowly (really slowly) working its way in this direction. No guarantees on anything. For two weeks the connection speed has been slow. It started subtly by slowing to speeds of 36 or 34. Next came the descent into the 20's and speeds of 24 and 28. A couple of days ago, it simply would not connect at all.
The technical guru that got my call spent hours telling me to change this or that and try again. Finally he said something profound. "You know, other people were having the same problem yesterday. Some of our equipment was buggie. I wonder if that is what the problem is?" I almost dropped the phone. He said he would ask someone and call me back.
He never did call, but the next day I was able to connect. Yep, I got on at an amazing speed of 19!!! Later in the day I managed 21! The guru got another call. Last night saw speeds of 42, so I am thinking good things. This morning set a new record with a blistering speed of 12. I didn't even know that I could get that slow! Right now we are cruising at 29.2.
I'm almost afraid to call again, lest I fall into the single digits!
